As an Automation Tester, you will help implement and maintain our test strategy and automated test suites.

 You will be responsible for participating in our product development from ideation to deployment and beyond. With a passion for collaboration and teamwork, you will work alongside our SW Engineers to plan and execute tests against new and existing features and products. Core to the role is your ability to effectively and efficiently collaborate with UX and graphic design experts, infrastructure engineers and software engineers to support the various layers of our platform infrastructure. 

Duties & responsibilities:

Think it -

  • Design, develop and apply automated testing strategies.
  • Build automated testing frameworks.
  • Establish manual and automated test suites.
  • Write and design automated tests scripts.
  • Analyse and verify best practices in automated and manual testing and execute acceptance, integration, installation, and system testing.
  • Maximise test coverage across the platform’s most critical features.
  • Determine the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation for automated processes including test plans, test procedures, and test cases.
  • Participate in product design decisions to guarantee adherence of test coverage for meeting end user requirements.
  • Attend conferences relevant to the industry.

Build it -

  • Execute automated tests scripts.
  • Develop and configure test automation networks and execute stability and performance tests.
  • Record test results, report and verify software bug fixes to accept automation criteria.
  • Oversee performance testing and present results for validation and analysis to Tech and Software Engineering teams.
  • Estimate tests accurately and coordinate with team members for work activities.
  • Participate in sprint planning sessions, stand ups, and retrospectives.

Ship it -

  • Work with the Software Engineering team and DevOps to ensure timely delivery of features and applications for QA and production releases.
  • Coordinate to confirm end user product and quality requirements and shipment schedule.

Tweak it -

  • Maintenance of the automated test suite.
  • Analyse performance test requirements and develop test plans, and debug to understand test objective requirements.
  • Prepare software defect tracking and report entire project release status to stakeholders.
  • Work with the team and wider business, if required, to address any issues as they arise; be they scheduled or urgent.

Skills & experience:

Essential -

  • 3+ years in a similar position or have an interest moving from a Software Engineer into an Automation Test Engineer role.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing test automation frameworks/solutions from scratch.
  • Practical experience of using automation methodologies within a CI/CD test lifecycle (TDD/BDD, DevOps).
  • Practical experience in test automation, using C# and/or .NET Core languages preferred.
  • Extensive experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Postman, ACCELQ, or other.
  • Experience in API Automation.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining test plans.
  • Experience using Jira scrum boards.
  • Experience in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with micro services and CI/CD.
  • Experience in DevOps.
  • Experience working with graphic designers and converting designs for UX/UI implementation.

Good to have -

  • Knowledge of container management tools, such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Familiar with messaging services, such as Azure Service Bus.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Canvas or Blackboard.
  • Experience with MS Teams.

Contract Type:     Full Time

Location:     Dartford Office, Kent - flexible remote
